AltiGen Tip 1: Conferencing

The AltiGen IP 710 or IP 720 phone on your desk is the easiest on the market for initiating and managing conference calls. To make conferencing even easier, use the Max Communicator application on your computer.

In most situations, everything you need for efficient, low-cost or no-cost conferencing is right at your fingertips. Here are a few points you should know about.

Instant conferencing

  • Your AltiGen system accommodates up to 12 conference participants

Easy scheduling via the "Meet Me" feature

  • "Meet Me" allows you to easily schedule conferences and confirm participation. Just log into Max Communicator and click the "Meet Me" tab. From there, the intuitive scheduling interface lets you fill in the meeting subject, the host, the invitees, the frequency of meetings, duration and schedule.


Add or drop callers

  • You can easily add or drop participants in the middle of your call.

Record the call for your files, conference participants or other interested parties

  • Use the "record" button on your phone. Or, using Max Communicator, right-click on the call. 


It's easy to give these functions a try

  • Test it out once or twice with your workgroup, and it will be a breeze when you need it for real.

Instructions for instant conferencing, adding callers and dropping callers


Instantly conference internal and external callers

  • To initiate a conference call, connect with any party

  • Once you are connected, press the CONFERENCE button. This places the other party on hold.

  • Enter the next internal or external phone number.

  • When the call connects, press CONFERENCE again. Now all three should be on the line.

  • If for some reason you decide not to connect the new party – for instance if you get voicemail instead of a live person – hit the "<" button to return to your original call

  • To add more callers, repeat the process. Your AltiGen system allows up to twelve parties per conference call.


Add incoming callers in the middle of an existing conference

  • Press the ENTER button to answer the incoming call. All other parties will remain in conference

  • Press the ENTER button and select one of the parties in conference

  • Press CONFERENCE to join the incoming caller to the conference


Drop anyone from a call at any time

  • To disconnect any party, use the 'up' or 'down' buttons to select the party

  • Use the "<" button to disconnect

  • This feature is available only to the conference initiator
